Easter Message from the Chancellor

As we approach Easter, we are reminded of one of the most profound moments in human history, a moment that, at first, seemed filled with sorrow, confusion, and loss.

In the final hours before the cross, Jesus sat with His disciples, knowing what lay ahead. He understood the weight of the suffering to come, the fear His followers would feel, and the questions that would linger in their hearts. What appeared to be the end of hope was, in truth, the beginning of something far greater.

Throughout His ministry, Jesus demonstrated who He was, not only through His teachings, but through His works and His words. He made bold declarations about life, eternity, and the power of God. Yet all of it hinged on one defining moment: the Resurrection.

When Jesus was crucified, even those closest to Him struggled to believe what He had promised. Grief overshadowed faith. Doubt replaced expectation. But Easter morning changed everything.

The empty tomb stands as the ultimate declaration that death does not have the final word. The Resurrection affirms that every promise Christ made is trustworthy, every claim He spoke is true, and every hope we hold in Him is secure.

Because He lives, we are not bound by despair. Because He lives, forgiveness is real. Because He lives, we have a future that extends beyond this life.

Easter is not simply a remembrance, it is a celebration of living hope. It calls us to renewed faith, deeper trust, and a bold confidence in the power of God to bring life where there was once death.

As we reflect on this season, may we not only remember the story, but embrace its truth. The Resurrection invites each of us to live with purpose, with hope, and with the assurance that God’s promises never fail.

On behalf of Queens College of Theology, I pray that this Easter fills your heart with peace, strengthens your faith, and reminds you that in Christ, life always has the final word.

He is risen.
