Leading a School, Continuing to Learn: Meet Carolyn

Carolyn spends much of her professional life helping others learn. As Director and Principal of Carter Christian Academy, she serves children, families, teachers, and staff through Christian education. At Queens College of Theology, she is continuing her own learning with those same people in mind.

Her work brings together academic achievement and spiritual growth. She wants children to understand God’s Word, experience His love, and develop the confidence and compassion to become leaders themselves. That responsibility extends beyond students to the adults who teach, encourage, and support them.

After years in Christian education and leadership, Carolyn sees further theological study as an opportunity to strengthen the foundation of her work. She wants a deeper understanding of Scripture and Christian principles to inform how she guides students, supports families, and leads others.

Choosing where to pursue that education meant considering how her studies would fit alongside her responsibilities. Carolyn identified QCT’s flexibility as an important factor in her decision because it allows her to continue leading her school while furthering her education. She also appreciated the college’s recognition of knowledge and experience gained through ministry, leadership, and service. In her admissions process, Carolyn described wanting an educational environment that values both academic learning and practical Christian experience.

Her goals reach beyond her current role. Carolyn hopes to expand opportunities for children and families to receive a quality, Christ-centered education. She also wants to mentor fellow Christian educators and help develop programs and schools that combine academic excellence with strong Christian values.

The same interests surfaced when Carolyn was asked about her passions outside ministry. She enjoys encouraging people, developing ideas, and building programs that benefit her community. Helping young people discover their gifts and prepare for their futures is especially important to her.

That commitment gives her educational journey a purpose extending beyond her own achievement. The knowledge she hopes to gain at QCT is something she intends to bring into classrooms, relationships, and future educational opportunities.
